To some people the holiday story presented here will be seen as an extravagant waste of money, or some might think spending an unexpected windfall this way would be unwise; it could even be considered that to have two trips of a lifetime is positively greedy.
Whichever way, you the reader can decide for yourself; we’re just glad we had the combined chances to do it.
Undoubtedly for me as a photographer, the illustrations in this book are of paramount importance, but they alone do not tell the whole tale. Married together with the the text however they make a cohesive whole. It is the wholeness of the story that I have found so fascinating. As I read this book, I found myself thinking, for instance, how could Terry find those miles of apparently empty sea so interesting, but he did, and opened it up to me the reader. In like manner it went on throughout this narrative of a couple on holiday, because simply put, that's what this book is all about. Has this book made me want to go to the USA, I've already been and enjoyed it, but I never saw it as this volume describes it, perhaps I should go again with what I've read in mind, and of course travel by luxury liner.
